Before the remaster, the Study Shield had the Magical trait. After the remaster, the Magical trait is gone BUT the text of the remastered description is unchanged and still compares it to 'non-magical counterparts'.
Is the removal of the Magical trait an error of omission? Is Magical Crafting required to Repair the shield?

The removal of the magical trait is likely an error that occurred when they removed its school of magic.
I'm thinking it is the other way around.
They are looking at the traits and removed the Magical trait deliberately when they removed the Abjuration trait. The item doesn't need to have the Magical trait since it doesn't have a school trait. And it doesn't need to be magical at all - just extra sturdy.
They just forgot to update the descriptive text to match.
However, you only need Magical Crafting to Craft a magic item, not to Repair it.
That I will agree with.

Heh. Nice.
And this is why absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.
Or to put it in more specific terms for the game rules: a lack of a rule does not necessarily prove RAW or developer intent.
Not to mention the increasingly common theme of "for the remaster, we put that rule elsewhere"
