It's pretty much all-in on the horror, so I'm comfortable saying "if you don't like the horror genre, Season of Ghosts isn't for you" unfortunately.
Bit unfortunate when I consider that I've heard great things about this AP. I don't mind a little horror sprinkled into other genres to spice it up a bit, but if it's all in on The horror then it's probably not going to be for me. Thanks for the reply James. ;-)

Just finished this really awesome AP! Our group loved it sooo much. But there's a lot of "body horror" with creatures with very twisted bodies, creepy atmosphere with unexplained phenomena meant to set you off, etc. It's much less "western" horror tropes, and really more Asian horror tropes, which might not hit your group the same way as just saying "horror". Like not so much gore/blood/jump scare, and more brooding, creepy, strangeness and spooky silence.
I think you could lighten the descriptions of those themes but you'd be working against the design of the adventure rather than with it.

The horror is much inline with Silent Hill or the adventure IMO has much in common with it . Like what has been said earlier in this thread its kind of a mystery to solve and it could be very creepy but I guess its all dependent on the GM running this since it can be a light supernatural ghost story with hardly any horror moments or it could be a full blown psychological horror experience ..The horror is about not knowing , like any good horror story has to be about
