Fruit Leshy Limits?

Rules Discussion

Hello there,

Fruit Leshy heritage reads:

"Your body continually produces small fruits imbued with primal magic. At dawn each day, a new fruit ripens. You or an ally can remove this fruit as an Interact action. If a living creature that can derive sustenance from fruit consumes it as an Interact action within the next hour, they regain 1d8 Hit Points, plus an additional 1d8 Hit Points for every 2 of your levels beyond 1st. This effect has the healing and vitality traits."

Is there meant to be a max number of ripe fruit that a leshy can have on them at a time? Or can you, in theory, have dozens and dozens on you?

I'm expecting it to be a 1/day ability.

That puts it in line with other similar 1/day things such as Android: Repair Module and Familiar: Restorative Familiar.

But it is missing any 'if not used, existing fruit loses its magical abilities' text.

It isn't typical Pathfinder2e game design to have to track how many of a limitless, slowly accruing resource a character has after a period of Downtime between adventures. Limitless, slowly accruing resources probably shouldn't be a thing.

I mean, they're fruit (and small ones at that), so they last as long as fruit normally lasts. Without refrigeration or magic, I imagine they would spoil rather quickly.

In any case, they'd become quite mundane if not eaten within an hour of being plucked.

What I am understanding from DINNERman's post is that the idea is to not pluck the fruit. Just leave them 'on the vine', so to speak. After a week of getting a new fruit each day and leaving it alone, that means that the Leshy will have 7 fruits available to be plucked and used during the next dungeon crawl.

It is a similar problem that the first printing of Ceremonial Knife has where it doesn't say that it is limited to only having one knife-wand. Plenty of people take that to mean that you could buy an unlimited number of mundane daggers and create 7 Ceremonial Knife wands over the course of a week.

Edit: And for those who don't know yet, the loophole in Ceremonial Knife was removed in the Fall 2024 errata.

That's exactly it, I was curious if there was any direction as far as how many can be left "on the vine." The ceremonial knife is a good example, I'll send it to my GM and see what he thinks.

Let's be real, none of those people ever actually BELIEVED the feat let them make unlimited wands. Some people CLAIMED it, but they knew better.

No... I am sure people believed that it did and the discussions I have had with players at my table (especially new players from 5e) proved that this was a hill they were willing to die on.

Their reason? "Its just a level 1 spell! and this should be witch's niche"

People that claimed to know the system? Suprisingly yes there too but most reasonable and experienced players could see the RAI clear as day especially those who lived trough the time where tailwind wands were in every game.

Ah, the No True Scottsman fallacy. Nice.

Did something happen to wands of tailwind

Nope, There was just a time where it was really popular to run trick magic item + wand of tailwind (2nd rank) on all characters. because +10ft of speed is really powerful to have for 8 hours.

Shouldnt be hard to find content creators and discussions suggesting to ban Wand of Tailwind
