Ranger's Monster hunter feat

Pathfinder Second Edition General Discussion

So is there any final verdict on how this feat works?

Do you get +1 bonus only on critical success?

Or do you get +1 bonus on a regular success as well?

Sovereign Court

Only on a critical success, that's never really been in doubt.

The real benefit of the feat is saving you the action to Recall Knowledge. Getting information early in the combat is very valuable.

The base Monster Hunter feat only gives bonus to attack rolls on a critical success.

When you critically succeed at identifying your hunted prey with Recall Knowledge, you note a weakness in the creature’s defenses in addition to any other benefits.

But you do get the normal benefits of succeeding on a Recall Knowledge check against the creature if you succeed at the check.

There are two upgrade feats for Monster Hunter.

Monster Warden will also give you a bonus to AC and saves against one attack from the creature. But with only Monster Hunter and Monster Warden, you still have to crit the check to get those bonuses.

Master Monster Hunter is the upgrade feat that you are looking for. This feat has two abilities. The second ability will upgrade Monster Hunter and Monster Warden so that they will both give their bonuses when you succeed at the Recall Knowledge check instead of only doing so when you crit the check.
