Witch familiar life cycle

Rules Discussion

I have several questions, for RP purposes, regarding a witch familiar: do they have a soul? or are they like angels and such, with no duality?

do they die when the witch dies? or can they "move on" and attach to another new witch for the same patron?

should they have souls, what happens to them when they die? in the rules it says that they are replaced on the next day, either identically or somewhat changed. Is their soul then kept away from Pharasma by their patron, until the new body is formed?

Thank you

That lore is for you to pick as far as I know.

I have a character with a familiar that is of unspecified, but ancient, age. She has been a Witch familiar for many, many years to various Witches over the ages. Occasionally she makes a comment about it in-game. I also decided that if/when the familiar dies it gets replaced with the same identical familiar entity, though the shape and form may change (generally due to gaining/losing a specific familiar).

But that is only one option that I have chosen for my particular character. You can choose differently for yours.

I thought there would be more specific or restrictive rules that I had missed. Nice to see there is such freedom with familiar lore.
