Reidentifying Magic

Rules Discussion

The adventure I'm going to run has a lot of healing potions in it, and my players have identified plenty of those already. Should I just not require an attempt to Identify Magic if the players have already successfully identified another instance of the magic being identified?

It is really up to you and what will make things most fun. Narratively, you could have all healing potions look and smell/taste the same, or you could have some regional differences/have ones that are clearly made by different people look very different, but only if it adds anything fun for you or your players.

If you want them to quickly know they have healing potions at hand and to be able to use them right away, it is perfectly fine to hand wave the identify magic activity.

IMO potions should be labeled by default anyway, either in common or the primary language of the potion's owner. It is illogical 90% of the time to risk mixing your healing potion up with your poisons or whatever.
