So, I have a Beastmorph alchemist who just hit level six, which is when his second beastmorph ability kicks in. This means I get to select two traits from Beast Shape 1. The first Beastmorph ability says he gets one choice from Alter Shape. Do these stack? So, do I get one choice from Alter Shape, and two choices from Beast Shape 1? Or do I only get the two choices from Beast Shape 1? I will be playing with only the choices from Beast Shape 1 until I get a clear ruling. Thanks all.
I'm going to say that I think the RAI is pretty clearly coming through--I think the author intended you to get just two from Beast Shape I, replacing the one from Alter Self.
However, I think purely by RAW, you get one from Alter Self and two from Beast Shape I, as nothing in either description says anything about replacing the previous ability.
So, as I don't think you're going to get a developer to actually weigh in on this (but if they do, awesome), this is probably something that is going to require a GM judgment call. So, sorry, but ask your GM, not us.
Well, I can't really quote anything for proof, because the RAW doesn't really clarify it, but I'm inclined to say that they do not stack. The level 6 ability is Improved Beastform Mutagen, which implies (to me, at least) that it replaces the previous Beastform Mutagen. Likewise for the later ones.
Also, it makes the most sense. If each of them stacked, you'd have, at level 14: 1 ability from Alter Self, 2 from Beast Shape I, 3 from Beast Shape II, and 4 from Beast Shape III, for a total of 10 abilities from 4 different spells. Kind of odd, and I'd be pretty positive not the way it is supposed to work.
