I'm about to run Beginner Box Menace Under Otari for 3 players, so I want to weaken some of these hazards. Will the weak adjustment normally meant for creatures suffice, or should I refer to the Building Hazards rules and lower the statistics accordingly?
I'd advice to consult Building Hazards rules. The hazard in this adventure is also rather too much. Mostly in the overall number of HP, maybe hardness probably DCs. It's a bit too tedious encounter.

Comparing the tables for building creatures vs building hazards, I am seeing that:
Values for skills (creature skills -> hazard stealth and disable), saves, and AC are all the same. Hit Points are drastically different though.
Complex traps have the same attack roll as creatures, but simple traps do not - they are much higher. But those at least scale at the same rate. Simple traps are consistently 3 or 4 points higher in attack bonus than complex traps.
Similarly, complex traps have the same damage values as creature single target strike. The simple traps have damage values that appear to be double the number of dice and approximately +level again on the static damage. So a level 10 high damage creature or complex trap does 2d12+13 damage, and a simple trap will double the dice to 4d12 and add approximately 10 to the static damage (in this case, it adds 13 but that is still fairly close) to get 4d12+26.
So while it would be better to adjust traps fully using the hazard building tables and adjusting the levels, using the weak adjustment can save a lot of work. Especially for complex traps. You will need to use the building hazards tables to adjust the HP, and the simple trap's damage values.

Hmm, looking at those hazard rules, the hazards in Beginner Box seem pretty weak for their levels. I guess it's so new players don't get smacked with massive damage in their first adventure. Wait, I'm forgetting the falling ceiling. I need to check that, too.
I don't have beginner box, so I can't verify that.
But I do know that simple traps against level 1 characters are one of the few things that can trigger the Death from Massive Damage rule.

Check 2nd dungeon level. Complex hazard there is maybe not very deadly but rather tedious to disable/destroy.
