If you have a bloodline and take a class that lets you choose whether to have a bloodline do you need to?

Scarab Sages

I was messing around with various builds and the blood arcanist got me wondering if you have a class that has a bloodline and multiclass into another one that lets you choose whether or not to have a bloodline do you need to take that option? I know if you have a class with a bloodline, choose e.g. arcane and take another class with a bloodline it has to be arcane a well but what if the other class has an option to take or not take a bloodline at all. Can you take another option e.g. a feat or do you have to pick the bloodline option and take arcane?

What class that grants the option for a bloodline that does not require you to choose one? The Blood Arcanists bloodline is not optional. If you take the archetype you have to choose a bloodline.

Quite possibly none, I'm just aware there's a lot of classes I've not looked at (all the occult ones for a start) and since the arcanist has an achetype it got me curious if there were rules for it.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure this hypothetical situation doesn't exist.

There's nothing that gives an option to get or not get a bloodline

Bloodlines seem far too essential to the characters who have them for them to ever be optional. You either choose a class or archetype that gives you one, or you don't.

The closest thing would be the Arcanist exploit bloodline development. But even that is something you have to specifically choose. In that case you can simply not choose that particular exploit.

This question really does not need an answer, because it is something that will never come up.

Quoting the relevant rules text portion from the Blood Arcanist archetype:

Quote:
If the blood arcanist takes levels in another class that grants a bloodline, the bloodlines must be the same type, even if that means that the bloodline of one of her classes must change. Subject to GM discretion, the blood arcanist can change her former bloodline to make them conform.

If the other class gives you a choice of whether or not to obtain a bloodline, it only counts as "a class that grants a bloodline" if you pick the option that grants a bloodline. So if you want to multiclass into Magus, you are not obligated to take the Eldritch Scion archetype, and if you multiclass into Bloodrager, you can still take the Id Rager archetype which has no bloodline.

Well I know it will in third party stuff as I have seen them there but I figured that didn't belong in the rules forum which deals with paizo only stuff.

@Tom Sampson
Thanks.
