That is an important table to have handy.

To translate that to practical advice: to repair higher level shields like sturdy shields, someone needs to be actually good at crafting. Because the DC to repair a L4 sturdy shield is already 19, and the next one, the level 7 version is DC 23. So by that point you need to be actually good at the skill.

That's why my paladin actually took a good intelligence and raises Crafting as one of her first skills at level up.

That is why I (a Paladin) have crafting as well. And also a Sorcerer Dedication. The Dedication comes with the Shield cantrip, which takes no longer to cast than a Raise Shield.

Also, at the end of every scenario, the society will repair damaged or broken (but not destroyed) shields for free.
