Moving diagonally through greater difficult terrain

How does the math work out?

Say I have 45 foot speed, and move as far as I can diagonally.
Do I count 15, 15, 15? Or is it 15, 20, 0 (15)?

greater difficult terrain just costs 10 extra per square.

so instead of 5-10-5-10 it now costs 15-20-15-20

Thanks. That's what I thought, but wanted to make sure I was interpreting the text correctly.

For reference: Moving into a square of greater difficult terrain instead costs 10 additional feet of movement. This additional cost is not increased when moving diagonally. Creatures can’t normally Step into difficult terrain. [LINK]

that just means that the additional cost is not further increased (i.e. it's not "doubled" to 10-20-10-20 for difficult terrain).

so, in their effort to make sure that people add it as an additive cost and not multiplicative cost, they added that blurb that can indeed confuse people.

they did have to add that cause basically diagonals are counted as "two squares" every second square, so there may have been people that would add the additional cost twice, but the rule is clear if you see that your bolded part specifically mentions that the thing that is not increased is the "additional" cost and not the "total" cost.

I confirm, it does that. To the point that some people don't add difficult terrain cost to hexes which cost 10 due to being diagonal, so 10-10-10-10...
