Can someone give me a hand?

Pathfinder Second Edition General Discussion

I am new to pathfinder and pathbuilder especially, I am trying to plan out a summoner build on pathbuilder for my first campaign tonight, I noticed as I go through the levels and fill out the feats / skills etc that I want, the Eidolons stats/skills arent updating, is there a way to do this so I can see where I am at? For example I know Eidolons copy the summoners skills and I made Athletics expert but my Eidolon still only has +2 trained in Athletics

2 people marked this as a favorite.

I suspect that you haven't changed the character's level.

Pathbuilder lets you plan out future levels, but doesn't apply those changes to the character's stats - including for pets like Animal Companion or Eidolon - until you actually set the character to the level where those changes happen.

On the web-app, you will find the level adjustment field at the top, near the "Hide Plan" button.

On the android app, you will find it at the top in the About tab.

You are 100% correct HAHA!, wow I felt so stupid when I noticed I had only been filling out the feats etc and didnt actually change the level. Sorry guys

It happens to people more than you might expect! It's a useful feature for planning, but it's not always immediately apparent what is going on.

How about this for a question, I see the appeal to put points into Athletics for melee eidolons, etc. But what is the use for your Lore: Eidolon skill?

I assume you're referring to the Lore skill associated with your eidolon, such as Lore: Dragons or Lore: Angel. Are you by chance taking the Eidolon Contact background? Pathbuilder writes it out as "Lore: Dragon Eidolon", but it should really be "Lore: Dragon", so it's not just about your specific eidolon.

These lore skills represent your specific knowledge relating to the subject. Any time something in-game comes up related to Dragons, for example, you may be able to roll your Lore: Dragons skill to learn something about it, typically at a lower DC as compared to a more general skill like Arcana.

And the Eidolon can use their Lore skills for the same things that the Summoner or any other character can use them for.

Which is mostly for role-play and making a character that has something interesting to do when not killing things.

It can be used for Earn Income, though I don't think that both the Summoner and Eidolon can use Earn Income separately during the same Downtime. Act Together only says that they can both use separate and simultaneous Exploration activities.

The Lore skill can also be used for Recall Knowledge checks if the Lore is appropriate to the task.

You guys are awesome, thanks for your help!
