So I'm aware that there are lot of 1e Tian Xia fitting monsters that aren't in 2e yet and I'm aware there are some options in bestiary 1-3 and fist of ruby phoenix that work, but I can find those myself(with time spend) so I'm more curious of whether there are third party sources that would help with this in meanwhile or somebody who knows lot of youkai trivia if there is similar creature I could replace some of encounters with.
Like, Jade Regent, probably because lot of those creatures didn't exist yet, actually uses lot of D&D classic monsters. With giants its alright since most oni are based on giants anyway, but while velstracts in tian xia can be cool, I wonder if there was more fitting shadow or chain or suffering themed creature I could homebrew instead. Similarly there is one room in one dungeon featuring one classic D&D monster with sound based attacks, but they don't really have strong thematic reason to be in that room or dungeon so I wonder if there is something better fit I could find to use instead.
...So yeah, if anybody has any ideas how to work on this do tell me please x'D I don't technically need to change some of monsters, but I do think flavorwise it would help if there was something else to use instead.
