Tiefling Ranger

Advice

So I'm stalled on my arcanist and investigator. So I'm going to go ahead and start working on the other family group. First off - the Ranger! I was originally thinking that the ranger would be the ranged attacker, but then I decided I didn't want to do that. Yeah, they get bonus feats which makes it easier, but I just don't want to do it. I want to do a ranger natural attacker.

I'm going to go with the Tiefling since it's the only one of the planned races that gets a natural attack through a racial trait. I'm going with the Bite since I'll get claws at level 2 with Aspect of the Beast.

The other Ranger bonus feats will be Eldritch Claws, Weapon Focus Claws, Improved Natural Attack Claws, and Rending Claws. Vital Strike isn't very useful on a natural attacker and Multiattack isn't really needed if most of the attacks are primary. Since Weapon Focus and Improved Natural Attack only apply to a single natural weapon, it's not really worth taking them outside of the bonus feats unless I take them over and over for each weapon. And do I really want to take Improved Natural Attack several times?

Not entirely sure what other feats to take. There's Totemic Initiate which lets me take the Lesser Fiend Totem rage power to get gore. It needs Athletic though. Chaos Reigns does give a slam attack but it would remove one of my claw attacks so I don't want to do that.

I suppose I could dip Shifter to grab another weapon. I'd either use Adaptive Shifter to grab a Tail Slap, or use the Alternate Natural Attack rules for base Shifter and take the Stag aspect for Gore and Hoof. That would save on not needing Totemic Initiate and its pre-req or getting Helm of the Mammoth Lord.

So if instead of the Maw Or Claw racial trait, I can take Pass For Human, which lets me take Racial Heritage. That opens up a couple of different races that have a feat which gets them a tail attack. Yes, there's the Lashing Tail feat which doesn't need Racial Heritage to take, but the tail slap that gives doesn't work in a full attack with other natural weapons. But if I use Racial Heritage, I can use Kobold and take the Tail Terror feat. Which not only gives a tail slap, but lets me use tail attachments, which can be enhanced.

Then I just use something else to get a bite attack. There are several items.

Forgot that a tail attachment would make it a manufactured weapon, making all the other attacks take a penalty. I can use Dangerous Tail instead, the Lizardfolk tail feat. It gives a free trip attempt if I crit with my tail.

I'm dropping Ranger. It's just not working out. I'm leaning too much on stuff from Racial Heritage and there's no way for me to get Pounce. I've decided to go with Barbarian instead. I'll get claws at the same level as I would have with Ranger through the Beast Totem line. Which eventually gets Pounce. I can use the Dragonblood Shifter to get Bite, Tail Slap, and Wings. Then just go Barbarian for 10 levels. I can get Talons from an Animal Totem Tattoo using Eagle. Then after the tenth level of Barb, I can grab two levels of Eagle Shaman Druid so activating the talons is a move action. Then right back to Barb for the rest of the build. Or maybe stay with druid instead.
