No, you can't do something in the middle of Spellstrike unless it is a free action with a trigger or a reaction.
You can use only one single action, activity, or free action that doesn’t have a trigger at a time. You must complete one before beginning another. For example, the Sudden Charge activity states you must Stride twice and then Strike, so you couldn’t use an Interact action to open a door in the middle of the movement, nor could you perform part of the move, make your attack, and then finish the move.
Sixth Pillar is known to be a bit broken and in need of errata.
But it does say 'increases to expert' and 'improves to expert'. So I wouldn't rule that it would decrease the character's proficiencies if their class proficiency is better.

I know the general rule, but maneveouring strike explicitly says "you begin to cast", so it's a free action which triggers before the moment the cast starts.
The rule "you must complete one before beginning another" seems the general one, and maneuvering strike the exceptions.
And maneuvering strike is a free action with trigger.
Is your point would be that it's an error and couldn't be an exception?

No, I just hadn't read the Maneuvering Spell closely enough.
I think the error in the printing is that it listed it as 'frequency' rather than 'trigger'.
Yes, you can use Maneuvering Spell triggered on the casting from Spellstrike. But you do have to finish the jump before you can strike (no hitting things out of reach in the air). At least when following the rules strictly.
It isn't actually an exception to the general rule since the general rule already lists free actions with triggers as being part of it.

Oddly enough I was looking at this exact combo a couple days ago. The frequency error is only on AoN; the book has it correctly.
But yes I would agree that you can use Maneuvering Spell either just before or after Casting the Spell (before the Strike in either way). And due to the "increases" text, you shouldn't lose caster or weapon proficiency in either case.
