Custom Warforged (from DnD 3.5e) or Custom Wyrwood (with Living Machine alt trait)? For the China Girl from Oz The Great and Powerful. (Other help appreciated too.)

Homebrew and House Rules

She is made of china, and thus fragile (I'm thinking vulnerability to physical damage, or maybe just takes something like 1d6 extra damage from physical damage if vulnerability is too steep of a weakness).

She requires sleep (actually went to bed and had Oz tuck her in), but does not need to breath (was able to walk through a field of flowers whose pollen makes you sleep when breathed).

I don't know if she needs to eat or drink, as I wasn't paying close attention to the remains of her house when she was introduced, but I'm going to assume she does not need to do so.

She is Tiny, maybe even Diminutive (smaller than a monkey with wings, will probably just do Tiny to prevent being too weak, cause balance, though I may bump her up to Small, since she seemed to be a young child, thus making her age appropriate would be about a size category increase if her species grows similarly to halflings).

Give her a hidden compartment that has a high DC to find. It will only be able to hold something around a size appropriate dagger or shortsword (she literally pulled a size appropriate knife out of nowhere (camera angle and her being partially behind Oz made it impossible for us to see where she pulled it from), and there was no indication she had one prior to this). This may be a class thing, but she talked like it was normal for everyone in her town, before it was destroyed of course, so I'm assuming it is a species thing. ("Where'd you even get a knife?" "I'm made of china. I have to be ready to defend myself.")

She is good at earning sympathy. While part of it was genuine, the speed at which she got over her crying from Oz trying to send her to Emerald City alone, after he agreed to let her tag along, was too fast for it to be completely normal. So a bonus at Diplomacy and/or Bluff would probably be in play. She is also too young for it to be straight up a class thing. Rather, it was like a societal defense mechanism that her species developed to protect themselves, due to how fragile and weak they are.

Glue (amd presumably other bonding agents) will act like a Make Whole spell (when she was introduced, her legs had been broken off. Oz glued them back on, and she was able to control them well enough to still move her feet).

So with all that said, which would be the better base creature to modify?

I suggest taking a cue from PF2 and making using one of the following, or at least use these as a base: Variant poppet with a template for sentience, Animate object with a template for sentience, or a Soulbound Doll.

If you still want to use warforge or wyrwood, I would go with wyrwood due to warforge being too prone to just "war" unlike wyrwood which originate as wizard assistants.

For the weapon storing you could make it a race unique ability. Alternately she could just be using spring loaded sheath or similar mechanism such as a glove of storage or a specialized form of shrink item. Alternately there is nothing stopping kids from getting class levels it just depends on the GM and the story being told, just remember to apply the young template.

Poppets look interesting enough.

I'll use Tiny Poppets for starting age, and Small Poppets as an alt racial trait for a fully grown adult version (kinda like how Goblins have a Medium size variant, but this, again, would be due to age).

They will not use the Poppet Monster ability scores. Tiny Poppets have -4 Str, +4 Dex. Small Poppets have -2 Str, +2 Dex. I'm thinking they should have a +2 to Cha in both sizes.

Explanation:
The Race Builder gives a -2 to Str and +2 to Dex from having the Tiny size. Small Poppets are Small, which means they logically should have a -2 to Str, and +2 to Dex, at the minimum. So if we add the Tiny size modifiers from Race Builder to that, that is -4 Str, +4 Dex.

The +2 Cha is to give them a boost to Diplomacy and Bluff, and because she had a very strong personality. Though not in a bad way, of course.

They have an Int score, and a Con score (described in the Living Machine subtype).

I'm removing their immunity to mind-affecting effects, since she clearly experienced fear and morale in the film.

Giving them the Living Machine subtype from Wyrwoods alt racial trait.

Vulnerability to Bludgeoning instead of Fire, or, if the Massive Damage optional rule is used, Vulnerability to Massive Damage, where either they only need to take 1/4, not half, of their total hit points (minimum 25, not 50) in damage, to save or die, or instead, have to make a DC 22 Fort save or die, but normal half total hit points (minimum 50) in damage.

I'm not sure how to handle the Poppet Augmentations. I'm thinking they will all be allowed, but they have the Fragile property, meaning if the Poppet is hit with a natural 20 critical, an Augmentation will gain the broken condition, and not work. If it gains the broken condition again, then it is destroyed, and has to be fully replaced.

A broken Poppet Augmentation can be repaired by healing 1/10 of the Poppet's maximum hp (without actually healing damage to the Poppet), or through any means that removes the broken condition from an object.

Only 1 Poppet Augmentation can be broken or destroyed from an individual natural 20 critical.

I'm also thinking of letting them pay 500 gp to magically remove the fragile property from a single Poppet Augmentation.

I think I will remove their racial HD, but I'm afraid that will make them too weak.

Glue, and other bonding agents, will work as a Make Whole spell for them, and allow lost body parts to be reattached, as long as a sufficuent amount of the part is available.

All that looks good but I should say that poppets do not have racial hit dice. At best they have the bonus HP from being a construct but that depends on size.

The augmentation thing is more questionable. Since they are not just random abilities but physical changes to the poppet. A critical hit shouldn't stop a ppopet with the flying augmentation more than it does a styx or wyrwood. Unless you are going to apply that type of stuff to everyone.

Vulnerablity to bludgeoning and massive hits should be balanced with at least resistance 5 to electricity and fire; With a feat raising it to resistance 10. The reasons being that bludgeoning and massive damage is a much more common damage type then fire.

Finally remember to give her actual ability scores. Right now you only have the stats for the race. Using the starting spread of 10 and assuming she is small the stats would be: 6 14 10 10 10 12. So plan accordingly. On that note, tiny poppets seem to have +2 to Str and +4 to Wis when compared to tiny animated objects. This is seen as well with small poppets and small animated objects. This is similar to flexible with advanced wisdom.
