Technomancers: Drone technomancy to create a exocortex

Rules Questions

The idea of using drone technomancy to improve oneself with an exocortex seems like a very natural bent for some types of technomancers.

Is it just as simple mechanically as it seems? Obviously, you aren't getting a physically separate drone chassis in this case...you ARE the drone chassis.

Let me know your thoughts.

As this is the rules forum. This is not possible within the current rules. Drone technomancy gives you a drone AI, not an exocortex.

Mechanically, the cache augmentation does a similar thing, making you better at attacks. So, I'm not sure it's a needed thing, breaking out the unique things about the mechanic and handing it off to the technomancer.

While I agree that the Spell Cache already can do most of what is being asked here, the purpose of any rule or concept that allows picking up abilities or traits from another class is to allow for greater flexibility in party composition, so that certain classes are not flat required for the party to succeed, potentially leaving people disgruntled because they had to change their character concept to fit the group's needs. If there are multiple paths to get the same net effect, moderate shuffling can be done to maintain party balance without having one or two people bear the burden of a complete redesign.
