Monastic weaponry, Ancestral weaponry, and whirling blade stance

Rules Discussion

Assuming you pick a thrown weapon like a hand adze for ancestral weaponry, could you make thrown attacks with your monk abilities? Under normal circumstances only shurikens can be used with shooting stars but only because those are the only specifically ranged monk weapons but with melee weapons that happen to have the thrown trait, I'm not sure. Whirling blade stance suggests that's ok as it gives you the thrown trait. Thoughts?

Ancestral weaponry applies to melee weapons. When you're throwing them, they are ranged weapons, and Ancestral Weaponry cannot be applied.

That's what I figured. Unfortunate for whirling blade stance.
