A couple new Crossbows

Homebrew and House Rules

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Since the release of Guns and Gears, I have had two small niggles with it...there weren't enough new crossbows, and none of the ones we got had deadly.

Those niggles are the main reason I created this "and Crossbows" supplement which contains:
- all the missing crossbows from PF1;
- a couple martial crossbows with deadly, for Gunslingers that want the big crits but play in a low tech setting.
- composite crossbows that benefit from a high Strength score by letting you lower the reload if it's high enough.

They should all be balanced, even the composite crossbows which went through more iterations than I care to admit, but I am open to nerf recommendations. So without further ado...

Here you go

Seem pretty good to me. The assassin's crossbow may be a little too powerful. I'd say make it a d6 with deadly d8 instead.

Wasn't expecting that one to be the broken one but I'm ok with the trade. I'll even make it deadly d6 just to match the lowered die.

I figured the only comparable weapon would be the jezail. Being one handed with a d8, although it's fatal aim so I don't know how much that would play into it's balance. But at any rate, deadly is a trait that fits an assassin crossbow better than a larger die.
