Apart from thievery, which has its own DC and skill rank required depends the trap, is there some sort of progression menat for to be used for AP?
We are still halfway on either EC and AoO, but would be appropriate to suppose an approach like this?
lvl 1-6: all checks would involve MAX skill
lvl 7-14: all checks would involve MAX skill
lvl 15-20: all checks involves MAX master skill
Party members are quite different each other, and would be nice being able to understand when "tasks requireing a specific skill rank" would kick in.
To make some quick examples, finding a lvl 10 druid with +5 wis and trained religion or medicine, being unable to make a specific check because of the lacking expert proficiency ( though its skill bonus may have been higher than an expert character ).
Same goes with Athletics maneuvers ( A trained character with STR as main stat may be unable to make a check that could be easily be done, not succeed maybe but just done, by a 8 STR spellcaster with assurance + expert athletics ).
ps: we have bought to far the first 3 books of either EC and AoO, so we can't really check ourselves.
It's not a complain, but rather trying to understand how players may deal with their skills to optimize the party.
Knowing that the tasks are going to require a higher rank at some point, they could plan a different skill increase progression.
This would also allow them non to hit legendary, if they don't want to, but rather more skill at "master". Especially if the lack a rogue/investigator or don't want to take the rogue/investigator for the skill mastery archetype class feat.
