Hazard Cantrip, 5ft burst

Howdy

Quick Q. Hazard cantrip's Area is
"Area 5-foot-radius burst"

So a 5ft radius burst.

Burst
A burst effect applies to whatever is in its area when it comes into effect, including creatures that you can’t see. It doesn’t affect creatures with total cover from the burst’s point of origin, and its effects don’t extend around corners. The default shape for a burst effect is a sphere, but some burst effects are specifically described as cone-shaped. A burst’s area defines how far from the point of origin the effect extends.

So. does that mean the burst is a + sign effect? you target the middle, and the 5ft radius burst means it extends 5ft from all directions of the target?
So you chose the X, and it covers that X and the Os are the 5ft burst from the point point of orign? The Hazard spell doesnt' specify you chose an intersection or anything so you chose an area and it covers that with burst right?

Edit. Page 268 for Area of Effect
Some effects cover a defined area. Sometimes an effect’s description indicates a specially defined area, but usually an area falls into one of the categories discussed below. Regardless of the shape of the area, you select the point from which the effect originates, but otherwise you don’t control which creatures or
objects are affected. The point of origin of an effect is always a grid intersection, meaning the point where four squares touch on a tactical battle map.

Ah nice. There was a default rule somewhere about effects targeting grids unless otherwise.

Thanks! That solves it up nicely. A solid square is easy enough to deal with..... and I love that it doens't require a grounding.

10ft box on the ground, or in the air. Shame I can't get the dice much higher. Its a fun cantrip

To be honest, I haven't played much with cantrips... as a Mystic there wasn't much choice.
Oh except for TK projectile.... I like that spell. I have a pet rock for it

Pet rock is a good idea.

I've never played a caster but looking at it lately.

While it doesnt apply to Witchwarpers. Both Mystics and technomancers have options to get 1/2 level to static damage.
If they have something like the feats Superheated Spells or Water Magic, those also add extra static damage.

So together those do a little bit of daamge boosts there.

Its a shame the only archetype that boosts cantris, is one that removes all class abilities, and makes it mostly melee based. While there are no melee cantrips.
