[DISCLAIMER: I am a Paizo employee, but nothing I say regarding our lore is remotely canonical. I am a GM only in this forum. Aroden died when he slipped on a banana peel and the gods just don't want to embarrass him by telling humanity.]

Because I have a normal level of dedication to my hobbies, I've put together a calendar for myself of "what the Nantambu calendar looks like," based on the paragraph in LOME. I decided it was logical that they would name the twelve months after Jatembe and the Ten Magic Warriors, and then I used Arodus as the twelfth month because of the significant human population (and with the idea that they might've borrowed it from the AR calendar). My logic on which animal gets which month is that Ibex gets the planting month (so the first month of spring), Black Heron gets the darkest month of the year, Aroden gets the closest analogue to Arodus and then I just kinda filled in the rest based on Vibes. Feel free to backwards justify any of them for purposes of your game ("Frog gets the first month of winter because that's when we all tell stories"). I also kept the weekday names the same because I was too lazy to come up with new ones.

I have no idea how they track years and have decided to simply ignore that; in my mind they wouldn't count them anyway and would instead reference them in relation to major events (e.g. "the year before the big flood" "two years after the year we had that terrible harvest," "the year Amara's boy got married," etc).

The AP canonically begins in the rainy season so I decided that for my group it will start in Frog's Month (or the Month of the Frog, I figure either naming convention would be used interchangeably). Please use the comments to tell me how clever I am and/or the myriad ways in which I have made catastrophic errors.

The inner sea world guide marks Desnus 13 as Old-Mage Day in Nantambu/Mwangi Expanse, but I don't know how canon that is anymore. I'd imagine that day shifts for most people and communities, but colonial recordkeepers marked it as Desnus 13 for the AR calendar. That would be...somewhere in Frog's Month?

In any case, this seems like an awesome addition, and rounds everything very nicely for downtime activities.

Liberty's Edge

I would replace Arodus with Magaambya. It makes sense to me that Old Man Jatembe's greatest and ongoing masterpiece would be there along him and his disciples. And this way it is free of non-Mwangi influence.

And I would put either the end or the beginning of the school year in that month.

Desnus is May on Earth, which is...probably somewhere in Snake's month? Spring equinox on Earth is late March, so Ibex's month is April-ish, Snake's Month is May-ish. So late in Ibex, early in Snake I guess.

(notably, LOME explicitly calls out that New Year's Day is the spring equinox, not January 1, so the calendar starts in late March on Earth which is not a headache at all)

Honestly that's not a terrible call and I might consider it! I think Ron said in another thread that there's no formal start to the school year because cohorts arrive all the time, but it might make sense that there would be a longer "summer break" that would lead into kind of a natural start around that month.

Your link no longer works. Care to update? I am about to start the campaign, and that could be very helpful!

I have a calendar as well here, if it helps.
