Rage Trait and Barbarian Feats

Rules Discussion

There are several Barbarian class feats that don't have the Rage trait but in the text, say something like "When you're raging", or "while you're raging". By RAW,, do these feats require you to be raging or not? Examples include Raging Athlete, Fast Movement, Acute Scent and Acute Vision. Thanks!

Well, the RAW says you benefit from them while raging. So you don't get their benefits while not raging.

No clue why the Trait is missing. I thought it might have just been "passive" feats that alter your rage instead of giving you new actions/activities, but there's also feats like Adrenaline Rush which is a passive effect and still has the Rage trait.

I checked a few more feats and it looks like the passive feats from the CRB are missing the trait, but the passive feats from the APG do have it. My best guess is they thought passive abilities don't need the trait when making the CRB, but changed their mind for claritiy's sake when they designed the new feats for the APG.

Near as I can tell the Rage trait is relevant in two scenarios: enabling concentrate traited actions in the manner of Raging Intimidation or allowing an action to be activated with the Mighty Rage free action trigger.

Passive abilities made active with raging don't really interact with either of those scenarios, which is probably why it's absent from them. It may cause some confusion but I think the confusion would be greater if the trait were present on Raging Athlete as some would wonder if the modified actions High Jump, Long Jump and Leap take on the Rage trait and then could be activated with reduced action cost by Mighty Rage.

That's what I thought, thanks guys!
