Hi thre,
we are currently running a RotRL campaign and I start playing a fighter for the first time in my DnD life.
And while it is fun I'm currently looking to add something special to him. So far he's a very basic shield wearing adventurer.
I already give him a above average charisma and the Deft Hands Feat to push him a little bit into the more rogue-ish direction (as we have no rouge in our party).
[Maybe I have to mentioned that we gave the fighter 4 skillranks instead of 2]
I'm now looking to add something mystic to him. We are currently at the Manor and I think this would be a nice RP possibility to trigger this change (We are currently Level 5 and my character background is that of a fugitiv from Korsova).
I'm currently leaning toward some sort of Death/Spirit-Talker. But there are so many options. Currently I'm thinking about cross class into medium or spiritualist, but how feasable is it?
Also the medium looks realy OP with all the spirit options.
Any suggestion how to move into this direction and become some sort of Spirit-Whisperer/Warrior type?

Multiclassing into a psychic class works better than arcane or even divine for a shield-wearing fighter. If you want to follow it up with esoteric knight then the psychic class itself (or maybe psychic bloodline sorc. given you have Cha) works best since the PrC advances casting and BAB but not other class features.
If you're going to stick with the new class from now on then spiritualist + boon companion feat is workable, medium should work
(not OP tho'), and phantom blade spiritualist or id rager bloodrager could be interesting.
If you're just going to dip a level or two then medium and id rager bloodrager are workable but spiritualist isn't really. The id rager keeps full BAB going, or medium can get a little use out of the level 1 spirit powers and seance at level 2.

@Deft Hands: Too late, already done at level 1 and it already paid off multiple times (as we have no one else in the party who can use disable device)
@Avr: I thought about the esoteric knight, but have to admit the class sounds underwehlming.
When I choose to pick either the medium or the spiritualist I plan to go stick to it then. The spiritualist is my favored at the moment, as it speaks to the "Spirit Knight" theme for me.
(My DM already told me that if I go this route, some haunt/spirit from the mansion will become my "spirit ally", which would be a nice touch on it).

Esoteric knight isn't actually bad if your charisma is high enough just from eldritch armor, never mind the weapon-enchanting tricks or even eventual teleport pounce. Never mind though if you've got a concept going.
Fighter 5 / Spiritualist X, with a phantom. You're going to want the fractured mind archetype to cast off charisma I suspect. The emotional focus of your phantom determines several things including which two skill focus feats you get. A fear phantom works if you're sneaky, dedication or lust if you're the party face. Most of the emotional focuses can assist in combat but if you're going for anything more complex than simple sword and shield for damage (intimimancy, aid another shenanigans, combat maneuvers or something) there are relevant emotional focuses.

Thanks Avr, the "Fractured Mind" is indeed the route to go for me.
For the emotionel Focus I have to work with my DM, as she said that my phantom will be one from the mansion in book 2 of RotRLs, so I think she already have something in mind. :)
For fighting I wanted to go more the "spell distrupt/support route" (Disruptive, Ray Shield etc.) as the rest of the party are already massive Damage Dealers (Barb/Ranger, Blaster Sorc)
