CRB 192:
(1) You can’t move diagonally past a corner (even by taking a 5-foot step).
(2) You can also move diagonally past other impassable obstacles, such as pits.
Is a protruding obstacle, such as a 5×5×10 ft. box, rock or pillar, counted as a "corner" which can not move diagonally?
I prefer to count protruding obstacles as corners.

The question is; Does the obstacle fill the entire square, making it physically impossible to travel through?
- Corner: Yes, it fills the entire space.
- Box: Yep, sounds like it fills the entire space.
- Rock: Depends on the actual shape of the rock.
- Pillars: Round pillars you can probably 'clip through' on a diagonal but size is a factor here (10'+ diameter pillars leave a lot of 'corner space' to slip through, as would pillars under a 5' diameter).

Completely agree with Taja.
A corner is filling up the area of the 5' square and therefore can't be passed through. Similarly, a 5' x 5' x 10' box does the same thing.
A pillar probably doesn't.
Stairs don't increase movement so stairs without a railing won't block diagonal movement but a bannister might.
