Ok, so my player's did not found the Cockatrice on the night of the murder. On the next day of gameplay I told them that they were wake up by the cries of terrorized horses . They began the battle against the Cockatrice, and the Cockatrice manage to slow: 2 one of the PC.
While reading the monster effect it says:
Calcification (incapacitation, primal, transmutation) A peck from a cockatrice hardens the flesh of the creature struck. The target must succeed at a DC 20 Fortitude save or become slowed 1 (or slowed 2 on a critical failure). Further failed saves against calcification increase the slowed condition. Once a creature’s actions are reduced to 0 by calcification, that creature becomes petrified.
Every 24 hours after it was petrified, the victim can attempt a DC 20 Fortitude save to recover. On a success, it becomes flesh again, but is slowed 1 for the next 24 hours. On a critical success, the creature recovers and isn’t slowed. On a failure, the creature remains petrified, but can try again in 24 hours. On a critical failure, the petrification is permanent, and the creature can’t attempt any more saves
Does that mean that the PC must throw a DC every 24 hrs to cure himself of the slow? For example.....
Day 1- was a success it became slow 1 ( the player can now do two actions)
Day 2- failure estay the same
Day 3- success the regains all of his actions

The whole "one save every 24 hour" is only if a PC gets petrified.
Otherwise the devs have said it's "..if the creature isn’t petrified, the slowed condition ends once 1 minute passes without the creature failing a saving throw against calcification. Please use that!" It's an oversight which haven't been errataed in the Bestiary yet.
