How are rare minerals, such as adamantine or mythril, mined?

I know asking for information/advice about the mining techniques of a fantasy setting is like... PEAK nerd... But how do people mine the more fantastical materials? I feel something like adamantine, with it's DR and ability to ignore harshness being hell on the tools, would require a lot more than Dwarven gumption to extract.

I figure with adamantine that, rather than try to mine out the ore itself, you mine out everything around it, probably using adamantine tools to make the work easier.

You don't mine adamantine, it's a skymetal, you pretty much exclusively get it from fallen meteors and repurposing old adamantine.

The Adamantine Golem writeup mentions that building one often requires mounting a mining expedition to the plane of Elemental Earth or to other planets so it still can be mined, it just isn't on Golarion.

You're right, I completely overlooked the fact that it's possible to leave Golarion for it.

You find an earth elemental, ask it to use it's Earth Glide ability to go through the rock surrounding the adamantine and spit it out.

The skymetal I'd be interested to hear about is djezet. It's liquid at room temp, and is reactive to magic, so I imagine a lot of magical methods of mining it would be out for fear of setting it off somehow.

If it is liquid at room temp you probably just pump it into a container (much like drilling for oil but on a small scale). Depending on the location you may have to heat it up first.

Mercury is a liquid at room temperature, but you don't mine the raw metal. You mine its ores, eg Cinnabar (MgS). I expect the same is true for Djezet and some of the other weird ones.
