Equivalent of Dirty Trick combat maneuver

Advice

In both PF1 and Starfinder there is a combat maneuver called Dirty Trick. I am not seeing one for PF2 though.

I see grapple, feint, create a diversion, and demoralize. So there are some things that are similar.

Am I missing seeing the equivalent of Dirty Trick in PF2? Or would I need to homebrew something to get the equivalent?

You're best off homebrewing right now as there currently isn't a catch-all ability, though feats that affect rogue Debilitations gets close. I think that with the design of PF2, having one general action with a wide variety of different potential effects would be tricky from a balance perspective.

My personal thoughts (re: homebrew) would be to make, perhaps, a Deception skill feat that allow you to apply sickened or blinded, though I'd have to sit down with the numbers and levels. Getting either of those as level 2 abilities might be powerful as single actions. Potentially turning it into a specific class feat like a fighter with a Press trait that applies the condition on a hit.

OK. Just making sure I wasn't missing something.

Mostly I am trying to get the flavor of dirty tactics. So for the moment I will probably just re-flavor things like Create a Diversion to apply blinded. Things like that.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I do hope dirty tricks come back, if not just being freebies, through skill feats rather than class feats. Anyone should be able to, idk, throw dirt in someone's eyes
