I have a friend who is looking to get an implant for his eyes.
His race has Darkvision.
Would he loose his racial Darkvision if the implant doesn't add it?
No. Nothing in the augmentations rules say the implantee loses racial traits. So, unless the augment he's installing in his eyes specifically says that it replaces a species natural eyesight, it doesn't.

I also wouldn't think it to be a problem. A while back over in the Society Forum one of the Leads inquired with the Starfinder Design Team about replacing an eye lost to the Wound Critical Hit Effect, and the answer given was that it could be covered with a basic prosthetic.
So if a 100cr Augmentation can restore Darkvision, I think that any higher level, more expensive Augmentation could certainly handle it as well.
