A few spells (such as Major Image) have a duration of "concentration +3 rounds" (or whatever added value). Are spells like this valid targets for extend metamagic? Ifnit was just concentration the answer would be no, if it was 3 rounds it would be yes.
And if so, would the effect of the metamagic be to double the second paet and not interact with the concentration part?

I believe the answer is double only the part that lasts once you stop concentrating.
Yeah, it's a slightly grey area, but the duration is "concentration +X rounds," not "concentration" (or instantaneous or permanent).
If you cast hypnotic pattern and don't bother to concentrate on it at all it lasts 2 rounds. If you cast extended hypnotic pattern and don't bother to concentrate on it at all it should last 4 rounds.

You can make your spells last twice as long.
Benefit: An extended spell lasts twice as long as normal. A spell with a duration of concentration, instantaneous, or permanent is not affected by this feat.
Level Increase: +1 (an extended spell uses up a spell slot one level higher than the spell’s actual level.)
I think concentration plus 3 rounds is different than concentration, but if it was supposed to double the concentration it would work on concentration spells. Pawprint on concentration +6 rounds.
