Mythic Vital Strike + Greatsword total DMG?

Rules Questions

I feel like this question would be a "hell no" for a standard feat, but mythic gets weird, and the wording leaves room for interpretation.

Mythic Vital Strike reads;
"Benefit: Whenever you use Vital Strike, Improved Vital Strike, or Greater Vital Strike, multiply the Strength bonus, magic bonus, and other bonuses that would normally be multiplied on a critical hit by the number of weapon damage dice you roll for that feat."

Let's say it's just Vital Strike (basic), and your total base +damage is +10 for math's sake.

Normal Greatsword would be 2d6+10.
But Vital Strike makes it 4d6+10.

Mythic says you multiply the total bonus by the dice.
Standard logic says 4d6+20...
But the wording seems to say it could be 4d6+40.

Again, I'd argue that's a Case A. ...if it weren't Mythic.
It could be sloppy wording, but I do have my doubts.

Thoughts? ...and with what to back it?
(Link's if able would be great)

While they could have worded it better it is pretty obvious that you don’t get the bonus for every die. Why would I get an extra 20 points of damage because I am using a great sword instead of a great axe? That would mean that someone using a large weapon would do even move damage and a huge weapon would be absolutely insane. Both weapons are two handed weapons that deal similar damage. The great sword’s damage is more consistent because it is a bell curve, but should not deal a huge amount of extra damage.

Except the wording is not exclusive to the mythic version. Devastating Strike is also based on the number of damage dice rolled.

Mythic allows for far more powerful stuff, but it's not intended to make a 2d4 weapon better than a 1d12 weapon.

The Exchange

Yeah, I don't know if there was ever a messageboard post on this particular item, but I've heard designers talk about it at conventions. It should only be

Quote:
Whenever you use Vital Strike, Improved Vital Strike, or Greater Vital Strike, multiply the Strength bonus, magic bonus, and other bonuses that would normally be multiplied on a critical hit by the number of times you roll weapon damage dice you roll for that feat.

Ditto for Devastating Strike. If you every get a chance to listen to a designer talk about all the various priorities that are in tension when making a rules element (for any type of game that plans on expansions), you should. In particular; clarity (make it easy to understand), brevity (make it as short as you can), and extensibility (make it as open as possible so you can build on it later without errata'ing the original item). It's amazing there aren't far more problems.

Though I have always had a beef with Paizo's FAQ process. More specifically the lack thereof. Ideally the FAQ would be where examples would live for many more rules.
