I'd definitely reward the PCs with some additional knowledge since they put the clues together on what's going on, while making sure they still have to rely on the Sun Shaman's vision to fill in the blanks. Something that involves Amarund returning to the Storval Plateau with Midnight's Teeth, and securing it in the Grand Mestaba. Followed by an unbroken line of Sun Shamans from her to the current one.
And maybe once the Sun Shaman performs his ritual, he informs them that Amarund knows they're following in her footsteps, and warns them to beware her fallen comrade, Mandravius.

But yeah, you could focus on the desolation in Belkzen and surrounding areas as a result a result of Kazavon's reign, maybe even add some hypotheticals about what that might look like in Korvosa (or hint at the real "Ileosa wins" ending where virtually everyone dies as a result of her ritual).
Describing the horror coming to Korvosa should scare the hell out of your players, and give them plenty of renewed reason to find the sword, but I would be hesitant on giving them too much campaign related information (especially before the Shaman's information is given at the end of book 4) because they are essentially running on rumor and that's how the spell normally works. Also maybe they changed this in the remaster, but I remember from the original that Kalepopolis (seneschal) tells the party that he thinks the Teeth and the Crown are one in the same.
