Telepathic Message

Rules Questions

Hey fellow GMs, has anyone discussed whether or not telepathic message can be used through doors, like with someone in the next room? The spells description states "You must be able to see or hear each recipient." Say they can't see the recipient, but they know they are just beyond a door. They could hear them, theoretically, but aren't actively speaking to each other. What would be your ruling on this?

I allow telepathy to go through walls to reach known recipients and I'd allow the same for this spell.

I agree. There might be some technicality about line of effect vs. the spell description of 'must be able to hear, but I'd allow it. I'd honestly be pretty generous in allowing it to work. This is the kind of thing that helps PC plans work out, which is better than just telling them no.

Doinig what you're describing Seems to be the whole point of changing the rules from normal to be able to see or hear the target.

I'm saying I'd allow it even if it's dubious that the target could hear the caster.

Similar question, not to highjack... But does the telepathic message spell give telepathy sufficient enough for a "thought" weapon to no longer count as unwieldy?

That seems kind of overpowered for a cantrip

Maybe a tiara of telepathy?

Seems fair lol
