Horizon Hunters 1/5

My apologies but I cannot find the large thread where it is discussed that all regional languages are uncommon. Would someone link me the thread please.

I was trying to understand the value of the "Hireling Translator" Boon. If all regional languages are Uncommon, then what two common languages would the translator be able to speak?

The clarification about regional languages was in a blog. I will see if I can find it.

Regional Languages are uncommon out their region. Within the region, they are common. So the boon could speak two languages from the same region because they would common to in that region.

Wow - So all hireling translators hail from only 8 (9) regions? (Irrisen, Mammoth lords, Ustalav, Katapesh, Osiriani, Nex, Varisia, Linnorm, Saga lands). Every other region does not have two common languages. Also, it appears that there are no Mwangi translators.

Also, I have been trying to find in the players guide where it lists the downtime activities and I cannot seem to find it. My search abilities are sorely lacking so could you point me to the section in the players section of the PFS2 guide which discusses downtime. Thank you. In particular, where it tells me how long it takes to learn a new language

Your amount of downtime is mentioned here (Player section of the guide)
Player facing downtime rules

The activities are defined in the GM section referenced from that link:

Using downtime to learn a new language isn't one of the default options, instead it comes from a boon:
Off Hours Study

This concern is being reviewed by OP Leadership, I am sure. Or at least hopeful...

I am pretty sure no one would blink twice if you hired a translator from tien who spoke Tien and Minkai (sp).

The issue with Tien is that there is almost *nothing* written up about it, because it is a whole different continent.

Also there are a number of common languages translators could take, so you could have a translator from Mwangi who spoke (for example) Mwangi and Elven. Or Mwangi and Sylvan. (that could be really useful on an adventure to explore a fey portal set in the Mwangi expanse, for example...)
