Monster Grabs a PC

Pathfinder Second Edition General Discussion

need peoples thoughts.

1. A Monster Grabs or Swollowes a PC and the rest of the Party shoots the the Monster.

Q: Does the PC that has been grabbed take damage to? I can't see a rule on this, and our DM is always "If in doubt ", so yes you hit the creature with electic arc , frost ray the PC takes danage.

Nope. You only damage what you specifically target. Unlike other games, 2E does not have any rules for occupying the same space as part of grappling, or for accidentally shooting your ally in melee.

That was a deliberate design decision on the developers' part I'm sure.

Area effects that don't target creatures, but rather hit everything in the area indiscriminately, would hurt both creatures in a grab if they are both in the area, but not the one that was swallowed, if any (swallowed creatures have total cover).

No. You don't see any rule about PCs taking damage when a monster that grabs them gets hit, because no rule that even suggests that exists.
