Damaging Wall of Stone

Rules Discussion

What sort of things would you let damage a Wall of Stone spell? The general rule on damaging objects suggest you need the right sort of tools. But the spell doesn't specify that. Could a high level archer punch through with arrows?

Also, the spell doesn't list a broken threshold. You can still get through the wall once you get it to half health, right?

Yes you can use whatver you want to damage it.

But since it doesn't have a broken threshold then:

Quote:
If an item has no Broken Threshold, then it has no relevant changes to its function due to being broken, but it’s still destroyed at 0 Hit Points. (See the broken condition definition on page 273 for more information.)

So you need to Destroy a section to pass through

That said, it could be an oversight since every single "wall" in the DM section has a BT equal to half the max HP of the wall. OR it could be a function of the spell... who knows.

Nice! Missed that rule.

I don't think it's an oversight - it's a one-inch wall. Breaking enough to get through is the same as just destroying that section outright.

But yeah, I'm pretty sure the intent is that anything can be used to batter through it - otherwise it would be trivial to lock out monsters who rarely have specific gear with them!
