Is there a way to keep items for later and not carrying them around?

Am I supposed to buy only what I'm willing to carry?

For example, if I have hit my light load capacity with my weapons and armor and in the next adventure I start I decide to get an extra weapon, can I leave some stuff at the Lodge and retrieve it in the end?

Yes, you can, and this would be especially relevant for example with an alchemist's lab which has bulk 6 so you don't want to carry it around, but you might want to use it to craft stuff during your downtime.

Although, if you've hit your light load capacity with your weapons and armor, you might want to check that you've calculated your carrying capacity/bulk correctly. Remember that (for PFS2) if you buy a backpack, the first 2 bulks you store in it don't count against your bulk limit - so you should always be able to carry some extra items with you in addition to whatever armor you're wearing and what weapon you have in hand.

If you are still going over the bulk limit, consider investing in the Hefty Hauler feat - it gives you extra 2 bulks. At level 5 when you gain the next ability boosts, you could boost your strength to gain an extra 1 bulk (as long as it wasn't 18 to begin with), and if that's enough for you, you can then spend 7 days of downtime to retrain the hefty hauler into something else.

This is for pfs1. Im thinking on jumping back from years ago and only played once with this char so I was wondering. She has only STR12 and wears chain shirt+heavy shield so that weights a lot.

Well, you can still leave the equipment you don't need at the lodge.

You could also consider buying lighter equipment first (studded leather, light shield) and upgrade to equipment made from lighter materials when you have more gold (Darkwood Heavy Wooden shield, 257gp, weights just 5lbs, and mithral chainshirt, 1100gp, weight 12,5lbs). You should have enough gold after a couple of adventures.

Thank you! I'll keep that in mind! :)

The guide to organized play says it is assumed you have enough gear to carry any loot back to the lodge, which I would assume means you can also carry different loadouts with that too.

If you want something practical, then you can buy a Bison for 50g and bring it along as a pack mule to just carry anything you need. They have 27 strength so they can carry 1038 lbs before hitting their light load.

Yes, for both PFS 1 and 2, it is assumed you have space at the lodge you are staying at / starting at where you can stow extra gear.

I sometimes joke about my PC's dorm room at the Grand Lodge. Always dirty like a boys' college dorm room and the druid he shares it with is always smoking weed and refuses to do the dishes.

There was someone in PFS who had 10 bison (or oxen) and the carry companion spell.

When he wanted something too heavy to carry, he pulled out the relevant Bison, enlarged it, retrieved the object, and then cast carry carry companion back on it and stuck it back in the sack.
