The Magus remains a crit-fisher

Magus Class

In a way it's impressive that this aspect of the class survived the transition from 1E to 2E.

When using Spell Strike you absolutely want to crit, so you'll likely work with your teammates to create crit situations. I feel like the Magus relies heavily on teamwork and that's where it will truly shine, when allies can set up a kill situation for them.

Yup, I like that if you miss, you don't lose the held spell until end of next turn (or if you use Striking Spell again), reducing chances of getting "nothing" out of a slot as you are "crit fishing". If you miss on 1st round, on the next you could even cast True Strike to increase chances of (Crit) Hit on next Strike, likewise increasing chances of strong result with spell.

However hitting and missing the spell makes you lose it until you reach level 18 and take a feat to prevent it. It's probably kind of late to get that insurance. I would have seen it as a natural upgrade around level 10 or 12. Like the Champion's Exalt, Ranger's Edge or Barbarian's Raging specialization.

I'd rather magus lose those crit ribbons and exclusively make it so only weapon attack roll is needed and only weapon damage can crit if it means my class defining feature is something I can pull off with regular reliability
