Battle Medicine and Treat Wounds

Since Battle Medicine is technically different from treat wounds, can you do Battle Medicine and then do a Medicine check for Treat Wounds?

I ruled they could not, since the character treating the patient would basically be doing everything they could to help the wounded. They would therefore be redundant.

The advantage of Battle Medicine I posited is that it can be done during battle.

Anyone have any ideas?

Battle Medicine is very specifically worded to stack with Treat Wounds.

So, yes, you can do both, one after the other.

Forbidding it is adding heavy restrictions to Battle Medicine.

TBH, I feel praying your deity twice in a row to heal the same creature with Lay on hands is far more redundant, and yet it is exactly how it is supposed to work.

Battle Medicine and Treat Wounds have their own independent limitations, with nothing in the book suggesting that they also limit each other such as not being able to benefit from Treat Wounds after an encounter because you received Battle Medicine during it, or having had a Treat Wounds used on you mean you have to wait an hour before someone can use Battle Medicine if you take damage in a later encounter.

And since there's no game balance issue caused by there not being an interaction on the limits between these two action options, I don't see any reason to insert one. It's okay if player characters can do cool and useful stuff and not have any difficulty returning to full hit points.

Yes but one takes an action, the other takes 10 minutes.

Yeah, you can do both and the timers do not interact.
