Double Teaming an Opponent

Rules Discussion

Is there a rule, a feat, etc. about two PCs simultaneously attacking an opponent? Let’s try anecdotally two players with rope performing a running clothesline?

Not that I'm aware of. That sort of out-of-the-box creativity is accounted for, loosely, though.

You might have one player spend their turn Readying to participate in the clothesline. Then when the other player goes, the 1st one spends their reaction and takes the action.. running forward..

Then, no matter how you judge the actions to happen, it would be an Athletics check to trip. I would probably reward clever thinking by allowing one of the characters to Aid the other in the attempt.

Using items and objects in the environment is part of the rules, but it's intentionally hazy how it all works because creative players can come up with aaalllll sorts of things to do and no set of rules can account for all of them.

Flanking gets you most of the way there.

Simultaneity is one of the more difficult situations to simulate, though Aid and/or Flanking cover(s) much of that. Running in tandem during said Aid makes the rope scenario difficult since it's based on Readying which only allows for one action.

I'd likely advise a Delay in this instance then (being the GM) fudge a little so that their running occurs at the same time with one of them using their next two actions to insta-Ready & Aid the Trip of the other PC. It'd be pretty hard to exploit this given the actions and/or free hands needed to equip the rope and possibly re-equip weapons. I guess some builds may be able to exploit this, but if it's to do something cool rather than abuse a mechanic, I'd okay it.

Oh, and there were many Teamwork Feats in PF1. While I don't expect them to return, a GM could allow them back, I suppose as General Feats? Though that might limit one's imagination if approached so rigorously.
