Debilitating Dichotomy and Resolve interactions

How do these two interact?

Debilitating Dichotomy
...You get a degree of success one better than you rolled for your saving throw.

Resolve
...When you roll a success on a Will save, you get a critical success instead.

If you roll to save and get a failure does Debilitating Dichotomy bump it to a success then Resolve bump that to a critical success? Or do you need to *ROLL* a success before any funny business for resolve to kick in?

Both are based on the roll, so they don't stack.

as Kyrone stated, You must *Roll* a success, so they do not stack. They clarified the intention of these kinds of abilities in the errata here:

see text quote:
"but (as always) no ability
will ever change your degree of success by more than one
step."
