Did the Agathion's get retconned?

I've been looking through the Bestiary 2 and thought it was odd that they are the only big outsider from 1e that's not in yet. Did they get the Inevitable treatment where they got folded into another outsider type?

Not as such--they are still one of the big overarching families of Celestials, but between them and Angels, they drew the short straw for getting to be the family to represent the core of the Good outsiders. They are likely to appear in a future bestiary (a little surprised there were none in Bestiary 2, but the demand for celestial statblocks isn't quite what it is for fiends. They may still get some kind of lore adjustment but for now they exist, they're just less important than the alternatives currently in print--I believe that's a paraphrase of the Creative Director or possibly another Paizo creator.

We wanted to make sure we hit all 9 alignments in the first Bestiary, and that meant we weren't able to put a very large selection of all 9 of those alignments in that book. In Bestiary 2, we rounded out those nine categories, but that also didn't leave room for other types (with a few exceptions, like qlippoth).

Agathiaons, divs, asuras, sahkils, etc. are still in the setting, we just haven't gotten to the point yet where we can devote space to them without first establishing the nine "baseline" (if you will) categories of celestial, monitor, and fiend.

There's not gonna be any lore adjustment to them. It just that angels have a stronger role in the setting than agathions, since in our core pantheon, one of the oldest and most widespread and most powerful of the good deities is Sarenrae, who was the first of the angels.

IF we got an AP or adventure that was just all about Sakhils I'd be... Stoked. The influence they had in WFTC was so intriguing and I really want more. I love the less-bigtime fiends.

As an aside, I recall hearing about in the past that Demodands are sort of... Like borderline nonexistent. Do you think you'll ever flesh them out or are they just... Sort of there? I always forget they exist.

Demodands are 100% a Wizards of the Coast creation, unlike demons or angels (which are from mythology) or sahkils or aeons (which are our own creations). As such, I'm not as interested in playing much with them—especially since there's already PLENTY of chaotic evil things in the abyss to use in adventures.

Shacked City, our very first Adventure Path back in Dungeon Magazine, did a lot with demodands if you wanna see how we treated these critters before.

Qlippoths are the best Abyssal Lads, this is true. Demodands really are redundant lol.

Back on the Agathion topic, the Bishop Agathion in... Shards of Sin I think? Is the best guy ever and we definitely need them in 2e.

They also show up in Wrath of the Righteous book 5.

Yup; we've used them here and there, now and then, but Shackled City remains the definitive "Demodand Adventure Path" in my mind. I included them in Wrath mostly as an easter egg toward Shackled City, to be honest.
