Token markers for Roll20 (and other VTTs)

Product Discussion

So, I and my group have been playing PF2 online at Roll20 for a few months now, and been very frustrated with the lack of a good set of token markers that are meant for use with Pathfinder 2nd edition. Most either focus on D&D5 (because that's the 800 lb gorilla in the room) or consist of an absolutely enormous list of markers where you have to search through a thousand icons to find the ones that fit the best.

But after looking for a long while, I actually did manage to find a great set of tokens, published by Onyx Path Publishing of all companies. They're not actually on Roll20, but are released as Pay-what-you-want on DrivethruRPG. So you have to add them to your own library on Roll20. I'm guessing they would work well on other VTTs as well, but I am not familiar with how those work.

Most of these tokens are based on images from GameIcons.net, but they've been modified to have a really thick black border and then being filled with either red or green (for bad and good things). This makes it much easier than most other token markers I've seen to identify the marker even when it's really small.

I don't have any commercial interest in this product, I just wanted to share a great thing I found.

Or you can use Foundry's default token marker set, which is made specifically for Pathfinder 2e. They're a selection out of free markers, so you can export them and use them elsewhere if needed.
You can add to it if you like to have custom ones, too.

Or Token Tool.

I'm sure those are fine if you're using Foundry. If you're not, I guess exporting them would be a bit of work (though you can find them here. They do have a nice white border around the actual icon, which makes them clearer than some other options I've tried.

They don't have the color-coding where red is a bad condition and green is a good one (which you can also use for things like "raised shield"). As to whether that's good or bad is, I guess, a matter of taste.

Token Tool is very good for making actual tokens. My post was about token markers, the little indicators you can put on your token to denote various conditions like Frightened and such.

Oh! I completely misunderstood.

You want this, then.

Its pretty much the de facto standard for RPG status icons. No joke, when I see folks putting icon sets up for sale I can pick out which ones were colored (or designed) based on Lorc's icons, which were done in Lorc's style, and which ones were whole cloth. And so so many of them are Lorc's.

Can confirm, that's what I sifted through to pick the Foundry ones :) But there's hundreds of them, it takes a while (and so often you end up with a bunch of things that could work for the same condition, or one for several). Good quality overall, just a lot more than needed.

Those are the same ones that are on game-icons.net (which is also linked from the site you mentioned). The issue with using those without modifying them is that they're monochrome (though the Gameicons version lets you switch up which colors, which often doesn't show up well against a token. Both the ones I linked over at DTRPG and the ones you could get from the Foundry site have had an outline added that improves visibility. Plus, the ones I linked have been pre-curated so you don't have to look through hundreds of icons to find one that looks like Stunned.

In other words, the link I included in my original post goes to DrivethruRPG, where someone took the Lorc icons (and possibly similar ones), found the ones that they thought fit the PF2 conditions best (plus some other things that aren't technically conditions but still useful as token markers, like "Raised shield", "Raging", "Afflicted", and so on), and modified them to increase visibility.

I generally do a google search for the images I want to use then then use Token Stamp to create a token. I can use different ring color to differentiate between PCs and enemies or between enemies. Its fast and really easy to use.

Oh sure, there's a bunch, and I've been through the entire set more than once. The irony is that I've found things where nothing really fit what I was looking for! Can't think of what that was now, though, it was years ago.

I used these to make my own set.

I didn't use all of them, and some i did use multiple times for individual conditions. I also worked out the order I uploaded to Roll20 so I could alphabetize the conditions. Roll20 won't let you rearrange them afterwards (I know.....OCD...!!)

Anyway, they come in small and large icons, and work really well for just about every condition. My players like them alot (and appreciate my OCD!)
