Undead to life?

Rules Questions

Is there anything anywhere in Pathfinder that will return undead to the living?

It depends on what your goal is.

If Jimmy the farmer has been turned into a ghoul you can make him jimmy the farmer again by

1. Kill Jimmy the ghoul
2a. Cast Resurrection on Jimmy's pinky toe.
2b. Cast True Resurrection or Reincarnate on the idea of Jimmy the farmer.
3. Jimmy the farmer is back!*

*results may vary when using reincarnate, jimmy the farmer might now be a fish, but he is technically back.

In theory your DM may allow you to combine steps 1 and 2 via a single casting of Wish or Miracle. As these spells are sort of catchall spells if you're after a powerful effect that you feel should be a spell. Depending on the viewpoint of your DM this may or may not require a substantual gp cost.

If Jimmy the farmer has been turned into a ghoul/zombie and he just wants everyone to treat him as if he were alive while keeping all of his awesome undead powers.... you know for emergencies. This can also be done.

-> The Appearance of Life spells let Jimmy use the power of illusions to look like his former self.
-> The spell fleshpuppet turns a dead creature into a zombie that looks like it's a living creature.
->The spell Fleshy Facade lets Jimmy use the power of transmutation magic to look like his former self.

Reincarnate doesn't work:

Reincarnate wrote:
A creature that has been turned into an undead creature or killed by a death effect can’t be returned to life by this spell. Constructs, elementals, outsiders, and undead creatures can’t be reincarnated. The spell can bring back a creature that has died of old age.

Plus, reincarnate require a piece of the creature:

Reincarnate wrote:

Target dead creature touched
...
The condition of the remains is not a factor. So long as some small portion of the creature’s body still exists, it can be reincarnated, but the portion receiving the spell must have been part of the creature’s body at the time of death.

ah, yep you are correct. For some reason I was thinking reincarnate had the same limitations as true resurrection. Probably because both spells create a new physical body. I stand corrected on this point.
