In a game I'm in here on the boards, our GM the other players have come to the agreement to convert from 1e to 2e, and this is the first 2e game I've ever been in, so I was wondering if I could get some advice for converting a 4th level Paladin. I believe I have MOST of the math done correctly, but I'm kind of lost on the sheer number of feats characters get.

The feats currently in the feat section aren't mine, but from another player's sheet that I copied and started plugging in all my own stats into, so I'm not sure how many feats I as a 4th level character have.

Feats are pretty simple once you get used to there being different types, which are all very different things and are rarely interchangeable (though Humans have a few things that let them spend Ancestry Feats on getting one another category). They come in four categories:

1. Class Feats. You get one of these at 1st (as a Champion, anyway), then at 2nd and every two levels thereafter. If you want to multiclass, you need to spend these to do it.
2. Ancestry Feats. You get one of these at 1st, then every four levels (so at 5th, 9th, and so on).
3. Skill Feats. You get one of these from Background, then one at 2nd and every two levels thereafter, the exact same levels as Class Feats.
4. General Feats. You get one of these at 3rd level and every four levels thereafter (so 7th, 11th, and so on). You can also spend these on more Skill Feats, if you want.

So, at 1st level, you get one Ancestry Feat, one Class Feat, and one Skill Feat specifically from your Background.

After 1st level, every even level you get a Class Feat and a Skill Feat, every odd level you get a General Feat or an Ancestry Feat (which you get being determined by what level it is).

The Versatile Human Heritage also gives you one extra General Feat on top of these numbers.

So, as a 4th level Champion with that Heritage you should have the following Feats:

Class: 3 (one acquired at 1st level, one acquired at 2nd, one acquired at 4th).
Ancestry: 1 (From the 1st level list).
Skill: 3 (One pre-decided by Background, two of your choice acquired at 2nd and 4th)
General: 2 (One gained at 1st from Heritage, another at 3rd)
.
.
.
It's best to list these in separate categories to avoid confusion. I'd definitely be confused trying to put them all in one, and there's a reason the official character sheet has them very separated by type and level.

In terms of mechanical stuff unrelated to Feats, your Perception bonus should be +7, and I'd strongly advise getting Strength to 18 (+4), probably at the expense of Constitution.

Having an optimal attack stat is really important, and while Con is definitely useful, you get a lot more HP in PF2 making it less absolutely necessary. 56 HP just isn't that much of a downgrade from 60, while -1 to hit and damage really hurts, and while Fort Save remains important you'll be making a lot more attack rolls than Fortitude Saves.

Thank you, Deadmanwalking!

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to tweak my STR to 18 that way as that's been set for a little while, so I don't want to push things with my GM. I am shooting for an 18 in STR with my next level up, though.

I mean, a conversion is obviously gonna have different stats given the completely different stat generation method, or have you been playing the character without Feats? If you've been playing without Feats asking for a slight stat tweak to go with your newly decided Feats seems innocuous enough, though you know your GM better than I, I suppose.

But it's not crippling either way.

The roleplaying we've done recently hasn't been combat-related, as we returned to Fort Inevitable, paid our taxes, had a nice meal and went shopping.
