Hawk guard advice, this game uses D20 modern rules

Advice and Rules Questions

My group has decided on revisiting are Homebrew world and so I need a vise out of character for this game

The rules for building a character is unique as it is a Gestalt game 1 Pathfinder class and one D20 modern class.

The build I have in mind if hawkguard on the Pathfinder side and smart Hero on the d20m side

The game will start at level four and will be a survival game

Rules are 15 point buy, feet progression as Pathfinder but getting the bonus Feats from the D20 modern class, we get to background traits.

The game uses D20 modern wealth system instead of Pathfinder gold for purchase items, my idea if you use a Beretta machine pistol for my weapon

For Feats I am thinking Point Blank shot, D20 modern feat called double tap, I am thinking of taking Thor Wednesday mile but I'm not sure if it's worth it

I do have a second idea of being a Desperado Warlord on the Pathfinder side at a fast Hero on the D20 modern side, and using Point Blank shot double tap and two weapon fighting well in Phantom Sun stance. I would still be using a Beretta machine pistol for this build, I would focus mainly our solar when Maneuvers was Tempest Gale to back me up

I'm a big fan of d20 Modern. Unfortunately I don't know what a Hawk Guard is.

Do you get the d20 Modern class bonuses to Defense? What about Occupations? I assume you're getting talents.

IMO the Smart Hero's best trait is Plan. Exploit Weakness is only useful if both your Strength and Dexterity scores are low. While Savant is useful (and is the most commonly chosen first level talent) you don't really need it for more than one or two key skills.

The game is a survival game. IMO those settings support games with high hit points and a low ability to recover from them, so every mistake counts for the rest of the game. (All Flesh Must Be Eaten is supposed to work this way, but my one experience involved a really bad GM.) By contrast, d20 Modern heroes have low hit points but have access to the Surgery feat, which is just amazing. I asked about Occupations because many give you Treat Injury; Surgery requires a DC 20, or possibly higher if the target is below 0 hit points. This isn't necessary if you have magical healing, of course.

D20 Modern supports multiclassing. Since you're gestalted, you might not need the multiclassing, but you might want to take an Advanced Class. The Techie's Extreme Machine talent would go pretty well with your machine pistol. You can also eventually make the pistol Mastercraft +3 (and in d20 Modern, that can apply to damage rather than to hit).
