Magus to Wizard Conversion

Advice

I have a Magus 5/Evangelist (Sarenrae) 8 in a Mummy's Mask campaign that went through some things and for the story and the betterment of the party, I'm getting a respec into Wizard.

I'm trying to figure out how to keep some of the feel of the magus after the transition.

Things like:
Wizard(sword binder)
Wizard/Evangelist
Wizard/Eldritch Knight
Wizard/Dawnflower Anchorite

But I'm looking for options I haven't considered. I just have to fill the full arcane caster roll mechanically. Thematically I'd like to have Scimtars and faith to still be a thing.

If you're not fully committed to wizard specifically, blade bound arcanist gets some decent magus benefits. You could use a level of paladin to get your proficiencies for Eldritch Knight, keeping with the faith deal (how are you getting them with just wizard for your wizard/EK?).

Or if your GM doesn't mind mixing standard and variant multiclassing, you're at a high enough level to make VMC to Magus pretty worthwhile, as IIRC, I think spellstrike comes in at 11 there? You easily end up with a big enough Arcane pool to just constantly use accuracy arcana. If you don't mind being on a razor thin margin for feats, I found Blade Bound Arcanist - Fighter - Eldritch Knight, VMC Magus worked out to a pretty fun character. You're kind of just trading any possibility of decent metamagicking for being a not-too-bad fighter/mage. You lose two levels of spells, but you can at least nab Magical Knack to keep your caster level full.

I assumed fighter or swashbuckler or something, but I hadn't given it a lot of thought. Some Full Bab Martial class. Paladin could work if I reset my alignment too.

The VMC Magus I hadn't considered I should look at how many feats I can give up.

I found it not too bad, ultimately. You just have to resign yourself to only having one or two metamagics.
