barbarian level 4 swipe feat and forceful

Rules Discussion

Swipe
You make a wide, arcing swing. Make a single melee Strike and compare the attack roll result to the ACs of up to two foes, each of whom must be within your melee reach and adjacent to the other. Roll damage only once and apply it to each creature you hit. A Swipe counts as two attacks for your multiple attack penalty. If you’re using a weapon with the sweep trait, its modifier applies to all your Swipe attacks.

my quest is does the forceful proper also work for both attacks? i assume they pointed out swipe because the wording is different from forceful so people would not think it works for both, but forceful looks like it should just from reading the effect. but i am not 100% and would like to get some opinions. how do you all think(or know) it works with swipe?

Forceful
This weapon becomes more dangerous as you build momentum. When you attack with it more than once on your turn, the second attack gains a circumstance bonus to damage equal to the number of weapon damage dice, and each subsequent attack gains a circumstance bonus to damage equal to double the number of weapon damage dice.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Forceful does not interact with Swipe at all on its own. Swipe is only a single attack. The only reason the Sweep Trait interacts with Swipe on its own is because the feat specifically says that it does.

If you Strike and then Swipe, Forceful will apply to the Swipe damage.
