Combat Grab vs Snagging Strike, when to use and why?

Advice

I'm building a ruffian rogue, and was looking for a way to reliably get sneak attacks off. Somebody mentioned multiclassing fighter and snagging either Combat Grab or Snagging Strike.

From what I can understand, Combat Grab is a press attack (which means it automatically has a -5 or -10 penalty), but inflicts both Flat-Footed and Immobilize until the END of your next turn, whereas Snagging Strike can be used on the first attack, but doesn't inflict immobilize, and only lasts until the BEGINNING of your next turn.

Can someone help me understand what situations you would use one over the other, and which would be better for the general case?

Okay, let's see.

Both
Need free hand
Aid your allies via FF on enemy

Snagging Strike
-Strike that gives FF condition, ends before next turn
So it's useful for your follow up attacks that round, if any.
Opponent can move, ending condition.

Combat Grab
-2nd (or 3rd) Strike that gives FF condition, ends after next turn
So it's not so useful this turn, but useful for follow up attacks next round.
Opponent must escape/break out to end condition or even move.

So Combat Grab is harder to apply, yet is stickier, and sticks your opponent near you (for better or worse!). In fact, Snagging Strike is practically useless for aiding your party if your opponent goes right after you.
But Combat Grab is a Press, which works great for the Fighter w/ an Agile weapon, yet perhaps not so great if you're a Rogue, especially if using a non-Agile weapon. Yet it's effectively a free Grab attempt, which is pretty efficient (if you were already of such a mind to grab).

I'm thinking these are dubious feats to spend an MCD on.
Compare to Twin Feint which is automatic FF on your follow up attack, even if you miss (though yes, it costs you your free hand).
Or Trip, which for no feat gives you FF on your follow up attack, costs your enemy an action to stand, and aids your allies until they do.
Or Grab on its own, since you'll likely have excellent Athletics.

Yeah, I'm not seeing the appeal of MCD Fighter, at least not for those feats alone. Unless you want to build a grabber already or were going to pick up Dueling Parry and other useful stuff too.

Then again, maybe I'm spoiled by having players who make a point of providing flanking opportunities for each other.

Liberty's Edge

Also, with snagging strike, the free hand required does not get tied up with the attack, so if you have a weapon with a 2H damage, you could snagging strike, grip, then 2H attack vs flat-footed (making your AoO attack 2 handed as well).
