A Visit to an Aucturnian Palace

In my travels I have never been able to visit Aucturn, it is much too far away from my home at Absalom Station. However, because of the recent crime wave that has swept across my abode, I decided to take a leave of absence and travel amongst the planets in the pact worlds system. As I descended gracefully upon the toxic atmosphere of the 'Stranger Planet', I quickly proceeded to the great city: The Citadel of the Black. I noticed a great abandoned palace leaning onto the shore of the Undulating Sea. It could only be a pre-Gap structure, a beautiful piece of history that seemed to be stuck in time.

As I entered the palace, I took a human form. I did this out of respect for the people who once lived and worked in the extraordinary edifice. I wanted to truly appreciate the history behind this mysterious place. Colossus pillars of light shot through the holes in the ceiling hundreds of feet above. My footsteps echoed through the halls, beckoning any inhabitants nearby. Banners draped along the columns in the main hall had been ripped to shreds by some alien species. Though I was not scared it was more of a sense of intrigue that kept me going.

I located a small staircase at the back of the main hall, the stone steps looked as if they had not been used for centuries. After all, why would any Dominion force have an interest in a place like this? I crept down the stairs watching dust escape my shoes and plunged into the twilight.

My PCs are going to be visiting Aucturn, and the Citadel of the Black specifically, soon. I will consider it a mark of success if I get them to flee the Citadel for the "safety" of the unprotected, mutative wastes in terror. *cough*

My own view is that, unlike the rest of Aucturn, the Citadel is very much a place for. . . well, "people" might be a slight stretch. Still, for things resembling what one might call human, the Citadel is a refuge, with society and civilization of a sort. Its not a place where the interloper feels like a bacteria hoping not to meet any white blood cells today.

If I owned Aucturn and Hell, I'd rent Aucturn out, and live in Hell.
